The Twins Eye Study in Tasmania was established in the year 2000 to identify the genes underlying common eye diseases. It was extended to Queensland in 2004 and to Victoria in 2006.

Glaucoma and Myopia are common eye problems, contributing significantly to visual impairment and blindness worldwide. The aim of this study is to understand how these disorders develop.
